Straightness Training Instructor, certified by Marijke de Jong
Straightness training by Marijke de Jong is a system of training horses that addresses natural asymmetry in horses. All horses by nature are asymmetric. This asymmetry is not really a problem in nature, however, in the ridden or working horse, it can cause physical imbalances that can lead to behavior problems such as rearing, bucking, bolting, and other issues that result in a horse that does not wish to be ridden or worked with. Straightness training utilizes a variety of groundwork and ridden exercises that help to correct these imbalances and create a more supple and willing horse. Through these exercises, the human/horse bond is developed and strengthened. Straightness training can be done with any type or age of horse, and is suitable as preparation for any equine discipline.
